There's a monkey in the building

Imagine my shock at realizing 2 months have passed since the last post. Wow. I've gotten really bad at blogging! Life is just flying by too quickly to document.

I actually thought about posting a blog about our adventures in this apartment recently... We currently have a monkey on the loose in the building and have to close our windows and doors. I feel sorry for the poor thing, which can't figure out how to get back to its "home." Or maybe it's found a food source here. Who knows. It's been jumping around on different balconies and window ledges for a few days now, and has even made it up to the 15th floor, which is the top of the building.

Earlier in the week we got to deal with the possibility of our bathroom ceiling caving in and water leaking everywhere. The apartment above ours has been doing major remodeling, including major drilling to remove tile from the floors and walls. Imagine a jackhammer right above your head. It's about the same sound level. So for more than a week we would have to leave the apartment from about 10 a.m. to about 5 p.m. daily. The walls were shaking and your head would hurt from the sound. On Monday, we discovered that water was coming from several places in the ceiling in the bathroom (there had been intense drilling above). We had a plumber come look at it and inspect what was going on upstairs. Found out they mistakenly drilled through a pipe and thought they had shut off the water - but had not. So the water was shut off and we parked a fan in front of our bathroom for 2 days to dry it out.

THANKFULLY, drilling has now stopped upstairs. The quiet is an amazing thing.
